Gas to Power in 30 Days with GE

Fast, Efficient Electricity On Demand Is What The GE TM2500 Mobile Turbine Is All About

GE facilitates the delivery of electricity to a quarter of the world’s population and now, it is once again making significant inroads into delivering power to develop communities, increase production in industries and enable governmental development.

The TM2500 mobile gas turbine power solution from GE Gas Power Systems enables governments, power utilities and businesses to meet their electricity generation needs
quickly and effectively. Thanks to the innovative modular concept, fast installation features and quick production schedules, it takes approximately 30 days from order to full operational capabilities.

The LM2500 aero-derivative gas turbine in the TM2500 solves a number of challenges including delivering power to remote areas, areas of natural disasters, unstable grids and it helps to meet increased power demand on large construction projects.

Algeria – 480 MW of on-demand power

To help Algeria solve its increasing need for power, particularly in the summer months, GE delivered 24 TM2500 mobile gas turbine generators that provided more than 480 MW of power. The units were commissioned, delivered and operational in time to meet the northern districts of M’Sila and Fkirina’s 2013 peak electricity demand. After the seasonal peaks, some of the units were deployed to other cities in the south of the country to serve as permanent power installations.

Angola – 120 MW for bridging power

Only 26% of Angola’s population has access to power. Rich in natural resources, the country is engaged in a priority programme to create a modern energy infrastructure. The government of Angola ordered five TM2500 mobile gas turbine generator sets. 120 MW of onsite power is now bridging the energy gap during ongoing plant construction, improving grid reliability and countering the rising cost of diesel fuel.

“GE’s TM2500 systems offer the right combination of efficiency and reliability needed to help the Angolan state utility reduce its fuel costs and increase the reliability of grid service to support continued economic growth in Angola,” said Wilson Dacosta, GE Angola Oil & Gas Commercial Director.

GE serves the power needs of more than 130 countries with specialised plant solutions that provide increased performance, fuel efficiency, lower emissions and operational flexibility. The company has deployed more than 2,200 of these units around the world, racking up more than 79-million hours of operation.
