DAR ES SALAAM, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian President
Jakaya Kikwete on Saturday officially inaugurated a 535-kilometer gas pipeline
built with a 1.225-billion-U.S.-dollar concessional loan from the Export-Import
Bank of China.
The construction of the gas pipeline that transports natural
gas from Tanzania's southern region of Mtwara to the commercial capital Dar es
Salaam started in June 2013 and was undertaken by China Petroleum Technology
and Development Corporation (CPTDC), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum
Company (CNPC).
The construction works involved the laying down of 24-36
inches diameter pipeline from Mnazi Bay in Mtwara to Kinyerezi in Dar es Salaam
via Somanga Fungu where there was already a spur line from the Songo Songo gas
field in Lindi region, also in southern Tanzania.
The Chinese firm has also constructed a natural gas
processing plant at Madimba in Mtwara region.
Speaking shortly after he had commissioned the project,
President Kikwete said the inauguration of the project should end power outages
facing the east African nation's second largest economy after Kenya.
Tanzania has for a long time been facing power
shortage due to its dependence on hydro-power generation

17th February 2017 Excitement is building ahead of Aminex and Solo Oil well results
Flow test results could be coming in the next week or
two,
so says one certain prominent well watcher.
Aminex said drilling in the reservoir section was
associated with associated with significant gas influxes and higher than
expected pressures.
Craig Howie, analyst at stockbroker Shore Capital, in a
note earlier this month, said the well result is an excellent outcome that
de-risks the project considerably.

Aminex and Solo Oil shares advance after Tanzania well
success
Aminex said drilling in the reservoir section was
associated with associated with significant gas influxes and higher than
expected pressures.
Aminex and Solo Oil shares climbed 11.9% and 10.8%
respectively to 3.12p and 0.493p each.
Craig Howie, analyst at stockbroker Shore Capital, in
a note, said the well result is an excellent outcome that de-risks the project
considerably.
“With a thick, high quality reservoir indicated, we
anticipate a material upgrade to our 3.9p/share risked net-asset value (NAV)
estimate and look forward to incorporating the final results from Ntorya-2 into
our valuation following the completion of evaluation work including well
testing in the short term,” Howie said in a note.
Elsewhere, SP Angel described it as a “solid step
forwards” and said the result should provide greater confidence in the size and
scale of the Ntorya field.

6th February 2017 - NTORYA-2 WELL DRILLING RESULT
Aminex
plc
("Aminex"
or "the Company")
NTORYA-2
WELL DRILLING RESULT
Ntorya-2 Well Result Ahead of Expectations with 25 to
30 Metre Net Gas Column
Final Preparations for Well Test
Aminex is pleased to announce that the Ntorya-2
appraisal well has been successfully drilled to a depth of approximately 2,750
metres. At 2,596 metres drilling depth the well encountered a gross gas bearing
reservoir unit of approximately 51 metres. Preliminary petrophysical analysis
of the Logging While Drilling (LWD) logs indicates a porous and hydrocarbon
bearing reservoir with a potential net pay of between 25 and 30 metres.
Drilling of the reservoir section was associated with significant gas influxes
and higher than expected pressures. The result is well ahead of the Company's
pre-drill expectations.
The well is currently being deepened to a total depth
of approximately 2,780 metres, prior to a wireline logging programme being run,
to allow for the setting of a 7-inch liner below the reservoir interval.
Detailed petrophysical analysis will be conducted on both the LWD and wireline
logs. Preparations are currently underway for a comprehensive well testing
programme and the Company expects to have results of the flow-testing and
ongoing petrophysical analysis by late February.
Ntorya-2 also encountered traces of oil in the gross
reservoir interval and the Company is now evaluating the implications of this
positive development through an updated basin model.
The well was spudded in the onshore Ruvuma Basin of
Tanzania (Mtwara Licence: Aminex 75% and operator) on 21 December 2016 in order
to appraise further the Ntorya Appraisal Area. Ntorya-1 had a net pay of
3.5 metres and flow-tested at 20 million cubic feet per day, with 139 barrels
of associated condensate. The Ntorya field is approximately 40 kilometres
from the Madimba gas processing plant, which receives gas into the National Gas
Pipeline system.
Depending on the results of the well test, the Company
intends to apply for a 25-year development licence over the Ntorya Appraisal
Area.
Jay Bhattacherjee, CEO of Aminex said:
"We are delighted with the progress of the
Ntorya-2 appraisal well, which is ahead of our expectations. The
reservoir is both thick and high quality. Aminex looks forward to
providing the results of the flow-testing which will enable the joint venture
to consider its options for development of the Ntorya field."
Ends
17th March 2016 Construction started on Tanzania’s first natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant.
The 240-MW Kinyerezi power plant will provide nearly 20
percent of the country’s total power generating capacity and is being developed
to remedy Tanzania’s chronic power shortages.
The plant is being built about 30 kilometers southwest of Dar es Salaam.

26th October 2014 Energy Giants Swarm over Tanzania's Oil & Gas Reserves
Creative Commons - Author unknown
In October 2014 Tanzania’s Energy ministry disclosed that it has held talks with France’s Total and Britain’s BP over oil and gas exploration. They join a long list of oil companies interested in the country in which Norway’s Statoil, Brazil’s Petrobras, Royal Dutch Shell, BG Group and Exxon Mobil are already present.
In
May, China’s state-run offshore oil and gas producer CNOOC Ltd and Russian gas
producer Gazprom also submitted bids for four of the eight oil and gas blocks
Tanzania offered in its fourth offshore licensing round.
The
attractiveness of Tanzania’s 53.2 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of recoverable
natural gas resources has brought hot competition among the global energy power
players!
